Learn to swim at the BAC!

Learning to swim in a class setting has so many benefits!

Peer demonstration is a time-tested best practice when it comes to learning to swim.

A positive and upbeat class setting can do wonders for children who are new to swimming and may feel intimidated or uncomfortable in a one-on-one setting with an instructor!

Ages 4 and up
If your child is not yet 4,

Cost for the 4-week session is $60 for in-district residents and

Which Level is Right for My Child?

  • This level is all about orientation to the water! If your child hasn’t been in lessons before or is still learning to float on their tummy or back without support, Frogs is the class for them.

If your child is hesitant to put their face in the water, this is their opportunity to learn rhythmic breathing! Peer interaction and demonstration work wonders in this introductory class.

Frogs enrollment begins at 4 years old. In order to complete this lesson and move on to Turtles, students need to be comfortable maintaining both an independent front and back float.

  • Turtles is where your child learns to “put the pieces together” and build a swim! If your child can float on their tummy and back on their, own, it’s time to head to Turtles and learn how to go from swimming to floating on their back for air.

When they learn how to grab a breath of air while maintaining a horizontal position in the water, they can work up to a swim across the pool!

In order to complete this level, students will need to be able to swim the length of the pool on their own--it doesn’t have to be pretty, that’s what Otters is for!

  • Is your child ready for stroke development? If your child can swim in the deep end unassisted, they’re ready for Otters!

In this level, your child will learn freestyle, elementary backstroke, and dolphin kick, and get an introduction to the breaststroke.

We will cover bilateral breathing (breathing to both sides during freestyle), treading water, and deep water safety skills.

Once your child completes this level, they’re ready to head to Swim Camp this summer!

We want to ensure your child is placed in the level that best fits their age and development.
